The Rolling Stones and MTV United for New Capsule Collection

MTV and legendary British rock band, The Rolling Stones, have united for a collaborative garment collection.

Rock and roll has been vital in the development of British fashion. For example, the major connection between the Sex Pistols and British designer Vivienne Westwood curated London’s punk scene, and since, it has continued to be the foundation that carries all rock-inspired pieces in the UK today.

Recently, RS No.9 Carnaby has been keeping busy with new apparel collections — such as its recently-dropped collection that celebrated the band’s 60th anniversary — with modern takes on sporty silhouettes and traditional uniforms that were the must-haves for rock and roll acceptance.

Now, The Rolling Stones have connected with another hugely-important entity in musical culture: MTV. The collection starts with a selection of T-shirts, with highlights using classic The Rolling Stones graphics, all of which complemented with distressed aesthetics and rumpled effects.

Additionally, the “Who The Fu*k Is Mick Jagger” T-shirts add a playful spin to the collection, while the same print can also be spotted on lightweight tote bag, while the classic “It’s only Rock ‘n’ Roll But I Like It” lyric is used across a further selection of tees.

Rounding off the drop, MTV and The Rolling Stones have also presented new hoodies, designed with slouch shoulders and overarching hoods. Graphics are included on the latter with co-branding and text play that reads: “I Want My MTV,” the channel’s iconic slogan that throws things back to 1981, the year an MTV music executive convinced Mick Jagger to be featured in the brand’s launch campaign. Speaking on the new collection, The Rolling Stones said collectively:

“MTV has been such an important part of our journey — helping us by sharing our music to the world. We are very pleased to be able to continue to work with MTV, and bring exclusive collaborative products to our fans.”

You can take a closer look at the new MTV x The Rolling Stones collaboration above and it will be available to buy from February 17 at the band’s official flagship store at RS No.9 Carnaby in London and online at carnaby.therollingstonesshop.co.uk for worldwide shipping.
